Try the Trades with Manitoba Building Trades Institute & MWC

In partnership with the Manitoba Building Trades Institute, MWC presents Try the Trades day – a day geared towards girls in Grades 9-12!
Join us for a full day of hands-on and virtual activities simulating over 30 skilled trades careers. The morning will feature a safety orientation and tour of the warehouse where students will learn about fall arrest and confined space entry. After lunch, students will be able to try their skills at 12 stations including a backhoe simulator and get their hands dirty making a brick archway!
If you, or someone you know are considering a career in construction, this day is for you!

0930 – Registration & coffee
0945 – Welcome Address by MWC/MBTI
1000 – Safety Orientation by MBTI (TBC)
1015 – Exhibition Hall session – fall protection, scaffolding, confined space
1200 – Lunch & Keynote Speaker (TBC)
1300 – Exhibition Hall session – Bricklayer; Carpenter; Heavy Equipment Operator; Crane Operator; Ironworker; Insulator; HVAC & Refrigeration Mechanic; Plumber; Sheet Metal Worker; Painter
1500 – Closing remarks by MWC/MBTI

Cost: $5 per student (includes lunch), parents are welcome to stay and wait but it’s not required. Students must wear closed toe shoes for this event.
