In February, Manitoba Women in Construction (MWC) and the Winnipeg Construction Association (WCA) were proud to host the WinSETT Connecting Tradeswomen Empowerment Roadshow at the Construction Education Centre.

The one-day session brought together women from across the trades to connect, learn, and grow in a supportive and energizing environment. Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, participants explored topics such as self-awareness, confidence, communication, and leadership — all critical skills for success both on and off the jobsite.

A key theme throughout the day was the power of shared experience. Participants reflected on their own journeys while gaining insight from others, reinforcing that they are not alone in their challenges or successes. Many left feeling empowered, confident, and inspired, with practical tools they could take back to their workplaces.

The session also emphasized the importance of speaking up and self-advocacy, encouraging women to confidently share their skills, take on new opportunities, and continue pushing beyond their comfort zones.

Events like this play an important role in strengthening the construction industry by supporting and uplifting the women who are helping to shape its future.
